Welcome to the ROCKAPACA revolution.
This is the Chillpaca. It’s the result of an all-new, uncompromising approach to baby sleep sacks. And it’s just the beginning.

Your baby deserves the best. And you deserve peace of mind.
We started with first principles: If we want this new sleep sack to be hypoallergenic, what’s the best insulating material and shell? If we want it to be ethically sourced, how can we best ensure that’s the case? Is each and every component needed, and if so, how can we optimize it for baby’s comfort and parents’ convenience?
These are just some of the questions we asked that framed our design approach and product development.
The TL;DR: the Chillpaca sleep sack is in its own class – nothing else comes remotely close.
The Chillpaca sleep sack is filled with alpaca magic.
Naturally hypoallergenic. Thermoregulation superior to any other natural fiber on the planet. And easy on the environment. Alpaca was the natural choice – so much so that we named our company after this noble animal.
Unlike washable merino wool, alpaca doesn’t require harsh chlorine treatment and polymer coating. That’s right, washable wool may have started out natural, but by the time it’s next to baby’s skin, it’s anything but.
“Natural” bamboo rayon / viscose is a similar story. To make it soft, it must undergo environmentally unfriendly (to say the least) processing.
The Chillpaca sleep sack isn’t made with alpaca to be trendy, it’s because alpaca fleece is simply the right natural fiber for the job.
High performance by nature.
With two ingredients on the label, organic cotton shell and alpaca fill, the Chillpaca is deceptively simple at first glance.
Yet every design decision is made with intent.
For example: The precision-stitched chevron quilting pattern isn’t just for show.
To dial in the TOG rating, we tested multiple approaches to construction, varying the cotton shell layers, the amount of alpaca fill, and yes even the stitching. We flexed each of these factors to optimize, weight, loft, comfort, and the thermal resistance to arrive at 1.9 TOG.
Yet the TOG rating does not capture all of the capabilities of the alpaca fleece in this sleep sack. Yes, it provides a thermal barrier, but it also has a regulatory function, acting as a thermal “valve.” That’s how alpacas stay comfortable in their demanding environment, where temperatures can fluctuate 80+ degrees on a daily basis.
In short, we’re using the fiber that has evolved over 6,000 years in the Andes and incorporating it into an ethically engineered form factor: a modern synthesis of materials developed by nature over millennia.
Zero hot air.
Other companies want to tick boxes and have a collection of logos.
We go beyond the hype and the labels (forget about greenwashing, that’s a whole other topic).
Regulatory compliance and sourcing certifications are just the start for us.
Unlike 99% of companies out there, we don’t just parrot what other people say about their components or take it for granted when a manufacturer has a badge on their website.
Our primary manufacturing facility is Fair Trade certified in Peru. We could of course find that out by looking at their website. Instead, we flew to Peru to see everything for ourselves.
While with a Google search you can find out that alpaca fleece is hypoallergenic, we took our Chillpaca prototypes to an independent third party lab here in the US and had them verified by two separate tests (passed with flying colors).
If we make a claim, it’s not an faith, it’s because we know it and we stand behind it.
We hope you can sense that level of commitment when you hold a Chillpaca in your hands for the first time. And every time after that.
